tor-github/pr/1283, with the following changes:
* cherry-pick the merge commit in 1283 on top of...
* tor-github/pr/1174, but with the last commit re-worded to remove
the fixup, because fixups break our push rules.
This is an "ours" merge, except for the bugfix version change in
changes/bug30649.
Tor protects your privacy on the internet by hiding the connection
between your Internet address and the services you use. We believe Tor
is reasonably secure, but please ensure you read the instructions and
configure it properly.
To build Tor from source:
./configure && make && make install
To build Tor from a just-cloned git repository:
sh autogen.sh && ./configure && make && make install
